40 Days of Discipline: Day 13 – Prayer (basic Discipline)

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face”

Paying attention to my emotions was harder than I thought but it was great to talk to God about how I feel. What was your experience like?

We are going to stick with the same recipe.  You are required to pray to start your day, pray during the day, and pray towards the end of the day.  Of course you are not restricted to only pray for the items prescribed.  Here are the minimum requirements for today:

  • Start of Day Requirement:  On this third day we are going to start with humility.  Talk to God about you – good and bad.  Spend some time telling him why you need him desperately.
  • During the Day Requirement:  Pay attention to your activities during the day.  Before the start of every major activity ask God for wisdom and direction.  The activity could be a meeting, a class, a project, driving, etc.
  • End of Day Requirement:  Think about what transpired today and talk to God about it.  What went well and what didn’t go so well.  Confess your shortcomings and thank him for the power and help he provides.  Prayer requests have been left in comments on the blog.  Please read the comments and talk to God about the requests.

Prayer thought for today:  No facet of your life is too small for God to be interested!

Please continue to use the comments option to leave and review prayer requests.

  1. James 4:8 comes to my mind: 8Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Some years ago while praying, just to be in His presence for comfort, not asking for healing while hospitalized, as based on the doctors’ comments the condition was impossible to be healed, the condition was miraculously and instantly resolved.

A nurse had brought me a stack of Daily Word booklets. I read continuously, using many as prayers., from about 9:00pm that night and only stopped when I realized the sun was shining, it was dawn.
I just knew beyond the shadow of a doubt, with an inner peace, that the condition was resolved.
A couple hours later an ultrasound proved that it was resolved. (Quite different from the 2 previous ultrasounds)
For me, prayers is a ‘must’, to maintain a close walk with God, to maintain faith, to serve God, to glorify Him in our thoughts and actions, to bear fruit , we need God in our lives 24/7.

    • I absolutely agree with you, Toni. I don’t know how anyone can exist in this world without acknowledging the God of the Universe. As Romans 1:20 says — His invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature can be clearly seen from His creation. We have a big God who can do Big miracles!
