Context:
Today is dedicated to reviewing what we have learned over the past five days. Our lessons came from selected discipleship experiences of the Children of Israel. We observed the pervasive nature of idolatry and obstinacy and the destructive impact they can have. We saw the blessings God has made available to us when we operate in community, and the importance God places on our memory of Him. Finally, we were reminded of the importance of our testimony as we seek to make disciples.

I meant to comment yesterday but didn’t. When I was younger representing Jesus meant being an evangelist, that is, if I were to meet someone I was to make sure and tell them about Christ. Now that I am older being a representative is about all of life, that is, all that I do and say must speak of Him. For example, being courteous in the face of discourtesy and not flying off the handle speak volumes as to whose we are. Being a person of integrity is another area we can represent Him well.
To be an ambassador of a state one must know the constitution of the state to be guided accordingly. Similarly, we must know our “constitution”, the Bible, if we are to be good representatives. Prayer is having that contact with our leadership, God. Without it we are liable to go rogue and mess things up for ourselves and our representation of God before others.

The lesson memory resonated most with me and perhaps obstinancy. I was astonished to learn that “forgetting God” is a natural human inclination acknowledged and warned of by Almighty God himself. I am familiar with these verses but never made the connection. It helps me understand myself better. I could not understand why I would be familiar with scripture that tells me to avoid strife, do not fret, avoid flying off the handle etc and still practice those things. It’s like I read, agree with it it then I forget what I have read. I’ve had to learn certain things the hard way because Bible teachings does not always sink in for a number of reasons up to and including wilful blindness.

Yesterday‘s question on the amount of focus I put on how I am representing Jesus.
it is easy to forget that how we live our lives is a larger testimony of faith to the world than the amount of opportunities we have for one on one engagement and relationship building with others.

The lesson that resonated with me was about the amount of focus we put on Jesus. Sharing the gospel and letting others know how much we are loved by Christ and how much we want others to know Him only proves that our identity is in the Lord Jesus Christ.
