As a reminder, the theme for our 40 days journey this year is A World in Need. We kicked things off last week with a Group Study considering the role we should play as salt and light. Starting today, we turn our attention to the Spiritual Disciplines, and Bible Study will be the first Discipline we focus on. Over the next three days, we will focus on the relationship between Bible Study and a world in need.
With advancements in technology, there is an answer offered for almost every conceivable question on YouTube, Facebook, podcasts, Wikipedia or other platforms. Who needs the Bible when you have those resources plus Google, Alexa or Siri? I would argue that because of the ease of access to a multitude of often competing voices, the world has never needed Bible studying Christians more.

This year I am using a Bible reading application to focus on the New Testament at my pace. I am also doing a study on Prayer from my church.

I try to make a conscious effort to start each day with a piece of scripture that will be my main focus or guide for the day. Reading the scripture first thing and then praying that God will remind me of it throughout my every action and my words!

I always study with the goal of “hearing” the message being conveyed to people in our times, including myself. I try to learn the text as much as I can, ensuring that I apply what I am hearing to myself first, and be prepared to share with others what I have learned, any opportunity I get.

I read from a Daily Devotional and try to apply what I’ve read and learned to my life.
I saw a Bible Study series while at my sister’s home. When I can afford to, I plan on purchasing the series a bit at a time. I am looking forward to it.

1. Thanks to technology, I can read the Bible anytime, at home and traveling. 2. Listening to sermons in church and television. 3. Looking forward, I will have to re-connect with a small group. This has played a major role in my spiritual development.

I belong to a women’s bible study group and we are studying the book of Titus.
This group is different from the one I belonged to when I was in TT as it is not our opinion that matters but what the Word says.
It is Inductive study.

I’m using the You Version Bible and the many devotional plans it offers which is usually related to the verse of the day.
For my weekly Bible study group here in Japan that meets on Wednesdays, we study the book Gospel Foundations. Since our meetings for some weeks were cancelled due to Corona Virus, our class will meet tomorrow through Zoom app. We will all stay at home and study/meet using internet. This is a first trial for my group. Praying this style will be easy for all the members to connect till our regular meetings resume.

I get an on line message each day. Short and it prompts me to keep close to God.
I also attend in both UK and TT where I reside bible study groups, and join occasional on line prayer groups. Support those on Fb who ask for prayer. There’s a strong bond when you know there is earnest spiritual support coming your way.
