40 Days of Discipline

40 Days of Discipline:  Day 4 – Review

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! (Philippians 4:4, New International Version)

…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18, New International Version

Theme:  Rejoicing and Thanksgiving

Today is dedicated to reviewing what we have learned over the past three days.  As you perform your review, please consider catching up on any comments you may have missed.

Our consideration of the two verses above has laid some important groundwork for our journey over the remaining 36 days.  Our aim is to make the journey transformative and not just informative.  I hope you are excited about what God has in store.

How has your thinking about rejoicing and thanksgiving evolved over the last three days?

Please leave a comment.  We would love to hear from you.

  1. I try to remember to tell myself to cheer up, or don’t worry. I tell God I have left my situation in His hands, and whatever the result, I will joyfully accept.

  2. I rejoice and grateful to God for all that he has done for me. As I mature with my relationship with Him, I realize my reliance on Him and my awareness that He is with me every step of the way are the reasons for having joy, peace, and assurance thatI would be fine no natter how difficult my situation is. This is not easy to happen. It takes a lot of prayers, acknowledgements of my sinfulness/ weakness, having a grateful heart, and believing that in all my ups and downs He is with me, teaching me to move on , to start all over again and rejoice in the victory God gives in the end. All of us in our journey to life would come to a certain point when we feel very low, like we are almost at the end of our grip on Him, but when you look back and think how you got over that challenging stage in your life, you will be amazed how God carried you through, during those difficult times. To me the miracles God does in my life is one of the reasons for my strength and why my joy cannot be taken from me.

  3. A Sunday school song came to mind, ‘ Count your blessings, name them one by one’, Also, the Bible verse Romans 11:36 that everything is from God. Also knowing that by His mercy & love we are forgiven, that He loved us before we loved him, that He sent His only son to save us, to suffer & die for us. All those thoughts & more. How can I not thank & praise Him. Different from my first thoughts about thanking and praising God in all circumstances.
