The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
Today we conclude our 40 days of Discipline journey. It is a great day to consider what we have learned, make commitments, and share. We also look forward to a glorious Easter Sunday tomorrow.
This year we focused on the theme: God’s Glory. We will never be able to fully comprehend God’s glory, but we have seen over and over again that it is revealed in His Son, Jesus. We focus on the Disciplines during our 40-days journey because practicing them draws us closer to God’s revealed glory, Jesus. As you review our journey together I would remind you that this study is not about the pursuit of information only. We are much more interested in transformation. In that regard, I will remind you of a verse we considered earlier in our study:
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
As we look forward to Resurrection Sunday and beyond, I pray that we will continue to pursue the Disciplines as evidence of our commitment to being “transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory”.

This 40 day journey has been truly rewarding, humbling and fulfilling. Every discipline we studied needs strengthening in me. I cannot same I’m “100” with any one. However, I am inspired and encouraged to continue this fantastic journey to increasingly realize, understand and experience His Glory. Give thanks and praises to the Most High!

Each day of this 40 day journey was a learning experience. I didn’t always learn something new. Some days I learned that there were changes I wanted to make in my life that would allow me to reflects God’s glory in me.
My desire is to be more like Jesus. I want people, especially my children and my husband, to see Christ in me. I’m working on it.
Prayer Discipline: I have always had a comfortable prayer life. I think it’s such a wonderful thing to be able to bring any and every thing to God. However, I have made improvements in the area of learning to have complete faith along with my prayers. Sometimes after praying, I would have “but what if” thoughts. These thoughts showed a lack of complete faith. Now when I pray regarding a certain circumstance, I’ll ask God to take full control of it and allow it to work in the way He wants it to. I know that means things may not work out the way I want them to, but that’s okay. God’s way is the perfect way. When doubts creep in, and they try to, I have to remind myself that God is in control because I asked Him to be.

I have not been on the forum for much of the 40 days but I appreciate the concept. I think there are many things we can take away from this exercise. There were a couple comments that really made me think and self evaluate, so there is a power in sharing our thoughts and perspectives. However, if I am to single out one thing we should all take away from this, it is in the title, “discipline”. In this context, discipline in delving deeper into His word, on a daily basis.
Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God – what is good and well-pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 NET
Taking time to understand His will through His word will put each of us on a path to being transformed. Although I believe there are more elements needed to receive that transformation, seeking God by trying to understand and practice His will through His word is essential for renewing the mind.
When we look at the church in an organisational sense, we do not see perfect unity in the form of doctrinal beliefs, practices etc. But the fundamentals that unite us are derived from His word. We know Jesus prayed for our unity, He prayed that we love and forgive one another and even our enemies. If we allow instructions such as these to renew our way of thinking and improve our relationship with others, including God, we will surely achieve a greater sense of unity that overcomes the aesthetic division.
In general we will give the Holy Spirit place to do the transformational work rather than preventing Him due to lack of discipline.

I took the word glory in the scripture at face value but now through this study it has new meaning to me. This improvement in my understanding has helped re-energize my faith. I find myself working harder that I may attain Christ’s glory in me. Working harder at things I have control over, like reading my Bible more regularly. Thank you brothers and sisters, and may the riches and glory of Christ our Lord shine through you brighter each day like the noon day sun.

God’s glory is real and will continue without my acknowledgment. But thanks be to God for allowing me to see it and be wise and compassionate to share it with others.
