Today is dedicated to reviewing what we have learned over the past five days about Prayer and Fasting in our local churches. It is a great time to catch up on any comments you may have missed.
As a reminder, our desire is to make this journey transformative and not just informative.

Based on your studies this week, is there anything you are now more committed to doing in your local church?

I’m going to try and be more committed to praying “without ceasing”, to block out the things I worry about. I know I shouldn’t worry, and I do have faith, but when situations don’t change after always praying, I think about it.
As a matter of fact, I would like to add another prayer request. Due to my job situation, I have been away from my family, more than I want to, for more than a year. My daughter is about to go off to college, and I worry that without getting the staff I need, I won’t get to spend time with her before she leaves.
I would appreciate it very much if you would please pray that God will provide at least 3 more employees so I can be home, as well as provide the 4 additional clients I need to sustain my business.

This passage gives great insight into God’s purposes for prayer, whereby the intimate knowledge of Him that comes through prayer extends beyond the individual(s) with the personal request to those who join with him/her/them in prayer. Gods wants to be known through our interactions with Him… standing with each other in prayer amplifies this beautiful outcome. Fasting adds focus and determination to prayer.

I connected with the Associate Pastor at our church and discussed ways I could serve based on my schedule. We discussed several options, one of them is being a greeter. My first Sunday to volunteer is coming up.
I am a closet introvert 🙂 so I ask for prayers to let my countenance be one of genuine joy and interaction with those I come in contact with those mornings.

Yesterday I was reminded of Paul in jail writing to the Philippian church confident that through their prayers and God’s provision of the Holy Spirit that what happened to him would turn out for his deliverance … and that Christ would be exalted in his body, by life or by death (Phil 1:19-20). The objective of prayer and of Paul (as a living sacrifice) is Christ and the gospel. I believe that this should also be the primary objective of the church and its members that is worked out individually and corporately in Christ for The advancement and display of the gospel in individually and corporately (Phil 2:12).
Each Individual members completes the local body of Christ when they avail their unique “gifts and talents” in service to the ministry (in reach and out reach) of the body. Corporate prayer is the grand privilege and opportunity to nurture growth through fellowship with, discernment, wisdom and direction of the Holy Spirit that leads to individual and corporate maturity in Christ, as each part does its work (Eph 4: 15-16). We belong to each other and need each other to grow and advance the kingdom in our local setting.

I’m very new to this church in my new hone in Houston, Texas. I arrived here in November last year and in January this year, the church members started attending the service in person, praying covid will soon end. So, I’m committed to make new friends in this church. As always, wherever I live, church friends become my family as I’m away from my own family in Japan. But here in the US, there’s kind of bonus for me, as I’m near my siblings living in Chicago and also near my daughter who lives in Calgary, Canada. Let’s keep praying for the end of covid and that people would go back to church and live a normal life again.
