For review I actually appreciate all the topics discussed and all the amazing comments . Also, I’m so happy to see some participants that I know from West Side Community church in T&T. Makes me reminisce the memories of life spent in T&T while we were posted there in 2013.
For this week’s review I would like to emphasize more on how motivated Paul was in day 9. His motivation is inspiring because it only shows that God does not look on our sins or rub it on us, but He accepts us where we are. He sees our heart and through His grace, we are given chance to repent and start anew, restoring fellowship with Him, our Lord Jesus Christ. To me, that is amazing and a manifestation of God’s love for His creation. I also like day 7 and 8. Thank you Norman for giving us good lesson each day.

I learnt several lessons but very importantly that I should not be afraid to be God’s mouthpiece even if the message is “unpalatable” or unpopular; listen to God and be able to recognize His voice/His call on my life, ensuring that I am not mistaking His voice for someone else’s. Additionally, I was reminded to run the race with resolute determination and uncompromising discipline to the very end to receive the eternal prize, ensuring that I do not end up missing out on the prize after I have “preached” to others. It was a sweet and timely reminder that I am working for the Lord, not for others. I should not try to escape from what God wants me to do even if it is seemingly unpleasant as my obedience and message could end up saving a city/a nation/many people! Finally, diligent Bible study is crucial all the time, not sometimes.

I found the scripture from the apostle Paul (Day 9) very inspiring. He had such drive and ambition and was on fire for the Lord. He had that fire because he had a singular goal – to preach the Gospel (his marching orders). I do not have any goals (marching orders) and I now know that is what is lacking in my spiritual journey. Now I can pray more intelligently about the direction I need to run my race. I need a goal to hold before me.
I was also inspired by the commentary, I was particularly struck by the sister who spoke up about Jesus Christ in her diplomat wife role. I thought that was very brave. It made me reflect on how much I censor my speech now that I live in the USA. I am a Trinidadian living in the USA for the past 5 years and I fear offending people here. I never had that fear back home.
Another thing that came into focus is my half hearted approach to Bible study – this is the opposite of Paul. I am lazy and I now know I have to fight sloth more valiantly rather than let it be a hindrance to me in certain areas. I tell myself I make up for
lack lustre Bible study by listening to great Bible teachers like Dr Charles Stanley. Can listening to good Bible teachers substitute for Bible study?

Hi Ayana – in my view, listening to a good Bible teacher can supplement Bible Study but I haven’t found that to be a substitute for getting deep into a topic/passage alone or with a small enough group that allows for active participation.
