6 But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? 7 You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor 8 and put everything under their feet.” In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them. 9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. (Hebrews 2:6 – 9)
Unfortunately, many people around the world who appreciate the beauty of creation don’t see the Creator. Hebrews 2:9 includes 5 powerful words: “But we do see Jesus”. The story of the Creator humbling Himself to save his creation is good news. Because of this act of sacrifice, we can find our identity in Christ.
Today, be acutely aware of the wonder of God’s creation all around you. Take some time to smell the proverbial roses.

I see Jesus most powerfully through His love for people. We are created in His image & given dominion over all. He sent His son to die for us while we are sinners.
Yet, with all our flaws, He is always there for us, correcting us, ready to forgive us, to always love us.

Today’s passage and question is hard for me. I would be interested in seeing others’ comments.
I saw some amazing pics and little video clips the other day from a friend who witnessed the recent total eclipse of the sun, which lasted a mere matter of seconds, and it made me think of Good Friday, and the darkness that fell upon the land, for hours!, and the awesome majesty of Our Majesty, who commands the very sun and moon, and all the heavenly bodies. I hope to experience one personally one day, if only to reflect more deeply on Christ.

I see Jesus in a newly minted President (His creation) who says she is a “humble first servant” and “I thank God for his mercies … for me the boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places, I have a goodly heritage.” Smells like Jesus, that one.

I wish I can refer to some human but I can’t regretfully.Maybe a recent encounter with a Pastor Michelle who is totally devoted to her flock.
In nature I see and feel him most.

I see Jesus more powerfully in creation when I see people, as we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” but there’s also great evidence of His power as I observe the clouds and skies especially from thousands of miles up in the air, or when I am awed by majestic mountains, dazzled by the rays of the sun, stunned by the scintillating beauty of the moon, delighted by innumerable stars that He knows all by name, and startled by some creatures that He does not find disgusting! I marvel at the sweet fragrance and fragile beauty of flowers, the roaring rivers, the expansive seas whose waves can suddenly jump high up above a ship or in a split second see a tsunami soar. The daunting icebergs, the arid, brown deserts that pop out oases, choirs of beautiful multi-colored & plain birds singing their songs, each creature with its unique shape, sound & characteristics, tiny seeds that grow into massive trees, cultures that match or clash, attest to His power. As a nature lover & an environmentalist, I could write for hours about God’s power evident in creation but alas! I must stop before the thunder rolls and the lightning in which He wraps Himself flashes with frightening speed and brightness. My identity in Christ is possible only because of the creative power of His blood! Amen.
