I hope you have found a place free of distraction to spend a quality 15 minutes with God. Ask God to open your eyes to how he sees you. Read and reflect on the passage above.
If someone is going to play a pivotal role in revealing and developing your identity, it would clearly be advantageous if you knew how much they valued you. For example, if parents don’t value their children this can clearly result in a distorted identity for the children.
Something to think about:
- Based on today’s passage, what’s your sense of how much God values you? How does this influence your thinking about the development of your identity?

I am overwhelmed by how much God values me based on the passage of Scripture.. My identity should really start here. I need to see myself through his lens and not through mine.

This is a truly precious passage, in which I relate best to verse 17… “How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!”, because (like Duane), I am overwhelmed (and feel that there’s really no option but to be – my mind is incapable of digesting it all!) by the depths of God’s love for me as so beautifully articulated by David in the preceding verses… and I gain this most beautiful sensation of being overwhelmed by it, and by Him! Praise be to God!

The depth of God’s knowledge and value of me will be unfathomable until I see Him face to face. “Be still and know that I am God”, became a little more meaningful to me this am. Knowing that He is God, the creator and sustainer of life, more accurately, my life, is everything I need to know for “life”. Being still in the midst of the battle with the world, my flesh and the devil (that creates overwhelming, mental and emotional pain and confusion) , KNOWING that NOTHING can change WHO God is, is the basis of my identity, the anchor of my being.

This passage has to be absorbed slo-o-o-owly. It is amazing that God already knows my today. It’s amazing that I am wonderfulr BECAUSE all HIS works are wonderful. This passage is like the perfect identify equation:
GOD’s PERFECT LOVE + GOD’S PERFECT WORK = ME – fearfully & wonderfully made 🙂

It’s both mindblowing and awesome to think that God knew us in our entirety before he made us, and therefore this means that he knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows our true identity even when we do not know or accept it. As we stumble, forget and fail to assume our true identity at times, it brings great reassurance that such a loving God has already defined who we are. His thoughts about us are the only ones that matter, and that makes them precious indeed! Thank you for this wonderful reflection!

I agree with all the comments but I especially like Normans example of the impact of how parents think of their children etc.
Reason being that if only this message can be spread throughout our society especially to unfortunate children who are abused etc what a difference it could make.
The role ones self esteem plays in an individual’s actions is pivotal.
I have always felt confident as my parents showed me great love but knowing that my father in heaven loves me makes me smile 😊😊

Like Keisha, I was in amazement, but events in my life have shown me He does know before I do what the next second will be even in breath. it’s the ‘how long’ that makes me consider my next move to do his bidding and be even closer. My Favourite little chant is’ Day by Day Dear Lord of these things I pray, to see thee mor clearly, Love thee more dearly, folow thee more nearly, day by day day by day,,, over and over again when things are not going as I planned which may not be what He planned. My route is sometimes changed at short notice in these times. Love Him.

The passage clearly demonstrates that God’s love for me cannot be equated to any earthly standard. It cannot be measured by any physical man made scale.
Therefore, no human being can demonstrate the kind of love for me as described in the passage.

I take comfort in God describing and prescribing my identity because He values me highly. He is interested in my good for His glory.

The amount of intentional time spent with someone is usually an indication of how important they are.
God values me if time spent thinking about, caring about, providing for me are measures of His love and interest in me. He’s been investing time in me from before birth. That is mind blowing. I can’t wrap my mind or heart around it.
Thank You Lord for being mindful of me!
