40 Days of Discipline: Day 40 – Focus on Jesus

Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival.   They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request.   “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.   Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.   Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed.   But if it dies, it produces many seeds.   Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.   Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be.   My Father will honor the one who serves me. (John 12:20-26)

We have come to end of our journey for this year.   Yes, Day 40 has arrived.   Tomorrow will simply be a postscript of thanks and celebration.   Today we review the day in between the cross and the empty tomb.   We know the end of the story but back then it must have seemed like evil and the devil had won.   The price for our sins had already been paid on the cross but without resurrection Sunday there would be no proof and there would be no power.   As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:17, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.   Hallelujah we know how Jesus showed up on Sunday!

In the passage above, Jesus prophesied about his own death and resurrection.   Please prayerfully read the passage and answer the questions below.

Today’s Questions for comments:

  • What personal assurance do you take from Jesus’ resurrection?
  • After this 40 Day Journey, what are you going to change and what are you going to share?

  1. Jesus’ resurrection is proof of God’s faithfulness. God will do what He said He would do and His love is love is everlasting.

This has been a great journey for me, and I’m so grateful for everyone who has commented. Doing this has allowed me to grow in my relationship with the Lord, and I hope to further that journey with more bible study and fellowship with other believers. I am learning to be more steadfast in the attention I give to Him. I will definitely be sharing not only the 40 Days of Discipline, but the valuable things I’ve learned from it. Most of all that God’s love is in everything He does, and we need to reflect that love in everything we do as well.

  2. The fact that I believe there is a Jesus, and that Jesus raised from the dead, and that I am his child, I rest assured that one day I will join and live forever with Him in Paradise.

  3. What personal assurance do you take from Jesus’ resurrection?
Even today we see confirmation of His scarifice. His death is producing fruit, much fruit. I also have assured hope and can share that hope when others are being persecuted. Today we see it on the news; Christians being persecuted for their faith but they are experiencing Saturday”
After this 40 Day Journey, what are you going to change and what are you going to share?

    • Tomorrow is “Sunday” and then they too will be victorious.
After this 40 Day Journey, what are you going to change and what are you going to share?
I pray my change will continue to take place in my heart and mind. Remember first who my neighbors are and treating them as though I am the one appointed to share the story of salvation.

  4. I am assured that: He cares for me, He makes intercession for me, He has a place prepared for me and there are so much more assurances.
Thank you for this journey and i am so proud that i did not divert along the way. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, i rest assured that the necessary changes will come.

  5. ◾What personal assurance do you take from Jesus’ resurrection? He can do whatever he says he is going to do. He is willing to do whatever it takes to save me.
◾After this 40 Day Journey, what are you going to change and what are you going to share? I am going seek to develop relationship from which I can seek and receive Godly counsel when I need it. I am going to encourage more than I have been the importance of fellowship among believers.

I enjoyed this journey and was blessed by the opportunity to participate. Have a blessed Easter Sunday everyone.

  6. My personal assurance from Jesus’ resurrection is that we can conquer anything in this life. I enjoyed reading the responses from all those who participated. We can all learn from each other.

  7. For the final time this year commentators, I say a huge thank you!

We can never say enough about the assurance we receive from the resurrection of our Lord. I echo Paul’s comment in Philippians 3:10, ” I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death”.

Even as i continue to learn more about this power, I am assured like you that in all my circumstances I have access to more than enough power. What a blessed assurance!
